What is penile curvature or peryonies disease?

A curvature is formed by a natural growth of the penis or by a disease which is known as Peyronie's disease. As time passes, over the years, a natural curvature occurs in the penis when the two chambers of the penis grow at different rates. The result being that the penis tends to curve towards the chamber that is developing more slowly. While this disease, cannot cause death, it can definitely mean death of your sex life.

Peyronie's disease is more common amongst men between the ages of 40 through 60, though it could really happen to anyone at all. Sometimes even young boys of 20 can get this disease.

What are the symptoms of this disease?

Some of the symptoms include, a bend in the the penis when erected which is quite noticeable, a narrowing in the diameter of the penis when erected which is again quite noticeable, extreme pain when the penis is erected thus making sexual intercourse virtually impossible, hardened tissues within the penis.

What causes penile curvature?

The main cause of penile curvature is not known, however many researchers feel that the plaque that exists due to Peyronie's disease is formed after some trauma to the penis, such as bending or hitting the penis. Vigorous and extremely aggressive sexual activities is also believed to be a cause of the disease, as it causes localized internal bleeding in the penis. Other illnesses such as circulatory dysfunctions, diabetes are also believed to cause Peyronie's disease. Some researches trace back this disease to genetics, as well.

Curing the disease

If you suffer from Peyronie's disease, your doctor will prescribe several drugs such as B-complex or Vitamin E, calcium channel blocker injections, and maybe even radiation therapy. However these are mainly to reduce the pain. Tissue grafts is another method of treatment. The Nesbit procedure is also a common treatment that is used. Exercise is another option.

Something that has become increasingly common in the treatment of penile curvature is using a traction device in order to straighten the penis. Probably the last option you can use is, surgery. That too, only if the curvature is serious. Though surgery is not highly recommended.

the most common treatment used to correct Peyronie's disease these days is a dual procedure of a traction device along with penile exercises. This way the healing process works much faster. A famous traction device is SizeGenetics, which is known to have a tremendous success rates to correct the curvature.
